Just what I was looking for, hundreds of healthy and delicious recipes with good descriptions and a guide to pick up and store ingredients, so 5 stars!Instant favorite! I have a few wonderful Mediterranean cookbooks, and it's my go to region for culinary experiments. As much as I love those books, I really wish I had saved my money and purchased this one first. The sheer mass of information in this book is astonishing. With recipes from all over the region, including North Africa, Greece, Spain and Italy, you will never get bored with it.The book is divided up into the usual sections like soups, poultry, salads, etc. but with some additions like rice and grains, breads, flatbreads, pizzas, etc. The table of contents in each section lists special indicators (little colored squares) after dishes which are either fast (45 minutes or less) or vegetarian. Within each section, the recipes are varied. Each recipe starts with an explanation of why the dish is made the way it is, such as why the potatoes are boiled instead of microwaved, why this dish is blended by hand instead of a food processor, etc. This will save you tons of time when you are thinking of taking a shortcut and find that it doesn't turn out right. Then the recipe shows photos of steps that might be unfamiliar. And then there are little "notes" inserted every few pages which go into a specific ingredient, what to look for, how it's used...things like sardines, pancetta, bay leaves...or else methods, like how to properly wash and dry a salad, or how to salt-soak beans. Many of the recipes also list further variations, such as pan roasted cauliflower...which then shows how to add capers and pine nuts, or spices and pistachios. My only minor complaint is that the nutritional info for each recipe is listed...but it's all listed in an index in the back of the book rather than with each recipe. But don't let that stop you...the fact that it's there at all is one up on most other cook books!Great all around cookbook, even for gluten free people I am demanding on cookbooks. I like flavor, I like frugality, and I need my meals to be gluten free. These recipes are very flavorful and the reviews on the best brands for items like sardines and anchovies are very helpful. Some of the meals, especially the bean section, are economical. The others are worth the price. Finally, many recipes are gluten free as written, and many of the others can easily be adjusted. I feel better when I eat in this genre. Thank you, ATK!

Wilson is a very highly recommended sequel to the science fiction classic.In The Andromeda Strain (1969), an extraterrestrial microbe came crashing down to Earth and nearly ended the human race. Accidental exposure to the particle killed every resident of the town of Piedmont, Arizona, save for an elderly man and an infant boy. In the decades that followed, Project Eternal Vigilance has been watching and waiting for the Andromeda Strain to reappear, while research secretly continued on the microparticle. Now, in the Brazilian rain forest an anomaly has been detected and it is identified as the Andromeda Strain. A next generation Project Wildfire team of scientific experts from around the world is called together to try and stop the apocalyptic threat. The diverse team of experts must try and get through the jungle and figure out a way to stop this outbreak of the Andromeda Strain before it annihilates all life on Earth.The narrative follows five days of heart-stopping action, following the team in the jungle and through reconstructed transcripts, interviews, and descriptions of video footage. The writing is outstanding. Wilson, who is an excellent choice to continue the story, captures the voice of Crichton while updating the technological aspects of the story to fifty years in the future. While Wilson introduces us to the very human team members called in to stop the threat, he keeps the fast-paced plot moving along quickly and the tension building to stunning levels. The team members have their specialties and are a diverse group. Wilson also shows their flaws, making them feel like real human beings called in to stop an impossible situation.I loved every part of this wildly exciting continuation of the original novel. There is an explanation of what the Andromeda Strain is and how it threatens life for those who never read Crichton's original novel, so reading the original is not a requirement to appreciate this continuation of the story. The denouement is a exciting, heart-stopping scene that should ensure this will be a movie someday. Each chapter opens with a quote by Crichton, which I appreciated.Disclosure: My review copy was courtesy of HarperCollins.Well-Written, Intense, and Thought-Provoking Novel THE ANDROMEDA EVOLUTION by Daniel H. Wilson is a science fiction / techno-thriller novel and a sequel to Michael Crichton’s THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN. It can be read as a standalone novel, but it would be beneficial to read Crichton’s novel first.Wilson continues Crichton’s story after approximately 50 years of waiting. Research has continued on the strain and the world thought it was now safe. The watchdog group, Project Eternal Vigilance is on the verge on being shut down when a large formation appears in the Amazon jungle on the equator showing similarities to the original strains of Andromeda. A team of scientists (Project Wildfire) are deployed to the jungle to investigate and determine how to stop it. However the microbe is evolving and time is of the essence.This is a well-written novel and carries on Crichton’s legacy and builds on his original story line. I was thoroughly engaged and entertained. The novel is written as a post-incident report. The main characters are well defined with a variety of personalities and traits that came across as very realistic and in the case of one character, highly imaginative.It took me about 7% of the book to get totally committed to the story, but once I was there, I devoured the book. There are also some technical explanations and diagrams. Don’t let that throw you. They make sense.Overall, the novel was thought-provoking and entertaining. If you enjoy Michael Crichton novels or science fiction, I recommend you try this. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.Many thanks to HarperCollins Publishers and Daniel H. Don't worry if you didn't read the original (or see the movie), this stands wonderfully on its own. Written as an after action report, it details what happens when the Andromeda strain gets loose again fifty years after it was hopefully contained after killing virtually everyone who came in contact with it. The original Wildfire Team is no longer active but when Project Vigilence detects ominous stuff in the Brazilian jungle, a new group of characters jumps into action. This is topical and frightening in its way. Wilson has done an excellent job of writing a thriller that's more or less fan fiction but at the same time making it his own. Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC. Fans of the action thriller will like this very much.

I don't know what schools are teaching today, but I was surprised to see it just as a vertical bar.Another complaint is the strange nouns chosen for the letters. I get it's a vehicle theme, but x is for x-mas sleigh or l is for liner?Regardless of my complaints, I cut the book up and presented my son with what I wanted him to have and am finding the tracing pieces valuable.Made for boys Super cute tracing book for my preschooler. I didn’t realize that this is geared for boys. It has pictures of trucks or cars on each page. My little girl doesn’t seem to notice or care, but just an FYI.Lots of Words Related to Movement/Vehicles I'm not sure it's right to deduct one star from this product for the following reason, but I am. All of the noun words with the pictures are related to things that move. And some of the words are rather obscure just to fit the theme (see photos). I would have preferred words used more often for learning. However, the front does say On the Go in smaller letters and has all vehicle images. If you look at the image of the back of the book provided by the seller, you can see the on the move words and photos. I just didn't notice when purchasing. I was just focused on alphabet and sight words. Also, it would have been nice to make the pages perforated so the pages could be torn out for easier writing.
